Home > About Us

The South Shore of Nova Scotia is home to lots of creative people: artists, artisans, and crafters. Many of us do our creative activities by ourselves.  It can be wonderful, but it can also be lonely --  doing pottery, or painting, or wood-working, or whatever -- when you work by yourself in your basement, shop, or studio.

How we started...
This southshorearts.org website was originally created to support the activities of the South Shore Arts Council (SSAC) -- a non-profit organization that existed from 2002 - 2005. SSAC had been developed as a result of a February 2002 'Handmade in Lunenburg County' Conference at the Mahone Bay Centre.

And now...
With limited volunteer time, the SSAC leadership concluded that it had become necessary to dissolve SSAC as a non-profit organization. Therefore, we no longer have members or collect membership fees.
